Butterflies for Christmas.
My two new mini etchings are now available as cards for Christmas. They come mounted on your choice of either black or white premium cardboard. Non Toxic Etching
I am no longer etching my zinc plates, in a bath of nitric acid. I am instead, using a non toxic solution of copper sulphate and ordinary table salt. Here is my recipe. 100gms Copper Sulphate & 100 gms Salt, dissolved in 3 litres of warm water. The solution is very fierce, so the plate needs to be feathered and watched carefully. 3 minutes in the mix, is usually enough to achieve a good etch. The photo shows my two latest butterfly minatures, being etched in the blue solution.

Academy of Fine Arts, Demo Day
On Sunday, 18th September, I will have my little (school desk size) portable press set up at the Academy of Fine Arts ( 1 Queens Wharf, Wellington) and I will give demonstrations in the art of printing an etching. Kapiti Arts Trail. 1 -2 October.

New 4 plate etching.
'Gulls' has been created using 4 separate zinc plates, that have been jigsawed back together on the press, to form one image. It also features a small embossed effect, that has been achieved by placing a tiny collograph of a bird, on top of the etched and inked plate, before running it through the press. I have just completed a new etching of Mana Island viewed from the Plimmerton Firestation to go with my Kapiti Island duo. I have photographed the finished etching above the inked plate.
